The org, it's money problems ans other stuff!
by username inhi there, although i have been a lurker here for a while now i've not yet posted a new topic, so here goes nothing lol.. i have been thinking a lot lately on all the changes and the branch visits, specifically the uk branch visit where apparently it has bean mentioned the great tribulation is about to start.. since i've not heard the full talk and only heard certain items from it i got to thinking that maybe this is the org's way of saying the watchtower is about to go down due to all the cover ups and the long list of discrepancies.. maybe i am way off the mark here, what does everone else think?.

Nothing like the threat of a cataclysmic event looming on the horizon to spur on the troops and get those lagging donations, rolling in again. There's no easier way to feel saved than by giving an extra bit of cash and there's no problem that can't be made better, by throwing more money at it. -

Crap Shoot
by John Aquila inwhat would have happen if i was not home when jehovahs witnesses knocked on my door?.
there was a group of us living in a small trailer in the mid 60s when and old pioneer brother knocked on our door and placed all kinds of books and magazines with us.
all of us took it seriously and studied and started attending the kingdom hall.

I think we come to forks in the road throughout our lives and whichever direction we happen to choose, we deal with what we encounter and those encounters become our life story.
I think those who become JW's on their own (not born in) are already a bit lost or are searching or are heading for a fall and having any kind of strong direction in their lives is an improvement. JW's are out there actively recruiting people and the odds of them finding and attracting lost ones is very high. How many people do you know who were doing really well in life already, joined the JW's as adults? In my experience, it was more often than not, those who were at a vulnerable stage in their lives who became JW's.
Healthy organizations like to see personal progress and growth among their members even if it takes them beyond the group. JW's want to squelch the individual, cripple their critical thinking abilities and teach them to fear that which is outside the group. I think many who encounter JW's and stay with it for a good period of time and then leave, on some level are still convinced that they are bad people or possibly cursed in some way for having done so. That belief becomes a self fulfilling prophesy for them and they head straight for what they believe they deserve.

Prince of 'P-I-E-C-E"
by freemindfade innow i have always kept to myself discussing and speculating about this with any witness.
i am speaking of the very talented musician prince.
i remember watching the naacp awards one year ages ago and hearing him thank the one true god jehovah and falling off my couch.

I think Prince dances to the beat of his own drum in all things including his own version of JW'ness.
He's definitely doesn't appear to be living or practicing the religion in any version that would be considered ok in these parts. You're not really even supposed to attend rock concerts let alone be the star of one.
I can't imagine "Tight Pants Tony" would approve of any of his outfits or allow him to be used for any "privileges" in the Hall.
I'm glad he isn't allowing them to vanquish his spirit or talent and turn him into a drone for the Watchtower Society.

Where Does Jehovah Live?
by Wild_Thing inwhen my niece was very little (over 20 years ago), barely walking or talking, my mother decided to teach her "where jehovah lives".
she would coach her and say, "where does jehovah live?
" in a sing-song voice.

This post reminds me of when my little Nephew was about 4 or 5 and was learning to say Jesus and Jehovah and answer at the meeting. During the Watchtower study he raised his hand to answer "Jehovah" but when the microphone got to him he forgot what to say.
You could hear my Sister in Law whispering clues in his ear..."It's Jesus' father and his name starts with the letter J"
My Nephew thought for a moment and then shouted "JABBA THE HUTT ! "
It was hilarious of course but it showed that he didn't really understand the difference between God and a Star Wars character and was simply being programmed.

Did You Feel Bad For the JW Dishwasher-Cook Who Quit His Job (May JW Broadcasting)To Avoid Attending Later Meetings? He Pioneered on Welfare or Unemployment!
by RoyalFlushPhil indid you watch the story about the jw who was working as a burger boy at some diner and his boss wanted him to work on sunday during the time of his meeting?
this faithful jw decided he could not attend a later meeting (6 pm sunday meeting) and soon quit his job(or got fired to attend his sunday meeting) so he could attend the sunday meeting he was assigned to.
i think he was on welfare because this story states he won't work on sunday morning because that's when his meeting is!

As I said in an earlier post on this topic.
(if any of this story is even true) Most JW's in that situation would have simply attended a later meeting in Sunday.
Most JW's (especially ones with 3 kids) would have waited to quit until they had another job.
The interior shots of that house were obviously a set (there were no windows in any of the rooms). Unless his wife had a good job, he couldn't have afforded to live there. (All the rooms were decorated in the JW perfect funeral parlor style)
They said, it took so long for him to get a job that he eventually had to sign up for unemployment. Most people, if they were entitled to it, would have signed up for unemployment immediately. This shows me that he quit rather than was fired as they (sort of ) indicated he was. In some circumstances, you can get unemployment if you quit, but only after many weeks have passed first.
There were many subliminal messages in that video that were intentionally used to get your sympathy for the Brother. The most glaring one to me was when the Boss put a timer in front of him while he cooked an order and the Brother gladly worked faster and was able to meet the deadline. This (if it even happened) was to show how mean and unreasonable the boss was to work for and asking him to work on Sunday was part of that unreasonableness.
They indicated once again, that Jehovah plays a direct hand in making good things happen in your life. Even though millions of non JW's have better jobs or are losing jobs and getting new ones all the time, when it happens in the congregation, it's because Jehovah manipulated time and space to get you what you deserve for doing what the WT Society calls "His Will".

How can you tell who it was that liked or disliked your comments? As far as I can see, there is nothing that indicates specifically who it was. -

Need Help
by ThisFellowCheap ini'm in dire need of assitance, and i have decided to humbly come here.... first, let me reintroduce myself.
my name is kolabomi, a nigerian and a proud one too.
i am a graduate student in one of my country's leading university.

My understanding is that you are asking for someone from another country to set up a crowdfund for you so that those who donate to your cause won't know their money is going to someone in Nigeria, because of the bad reputation Nigeria has with internet fraud.
You may very well be legit and if so I'm sorry for your troubles but to set up such an account would be deceitful unless you disclosed fully to those donating, exactly where their money would be going. Your story would have to be told in such a way that those donating would be doing so under false pretenses.
Even though setting up a Crowdfund for you would likely not cost anything, the individual who did so would be part of any deceit that (may) be taking place. Even though many here are inclined to be helpful to those in need, not many (including myself) would be willing to take that kind of risk, especially for a total stranger they encountered on an internet site,
It seems to me that between your parents, friends, relatives and University, you should be able to get a loan or credit to purchase what you need. Is there a way to borrow an instructors equipment or the equipment of a friend until you can make some other arrangement? What equipment have you been using or are you currently using to get by?
